The Wax Heater Professional provides precise temperature control and easy chain handling. Black Diamond Hot Wax forms the actual hot wax base of the system. Transformer Block allows a factory-new chain to be treated without traditional solvent degreasing of the factory grease.

REX Wax Heater Professional

REX Wax Heater Professional has been designed from the ground up specifically for hot waxing bicycle chains.

The 1.5-litre wax container holds a full 480 g pack of Black Diamond Hot Wax and also has enough capacity for treating multiple chains.

Digital temperature control provides an operating range of 35 to 125 °C. The normal waxing temperature is 75 °C.

The BOOST function raises the temperature to 125 °C and melts a full pack of Black Diamond Hot Wax in approximately 30 minutes. Once 125 °C is reached, the heater automatically begins cooling the wax back down to the 75 °C waxing temperature.

This makes it particularly well suited for use with the Transformer Block treatment.

The heater also includes a chain hanging rack, two waxing wires and handling grips. The grips can also be combined to form pliers for opening and closing chain quick links.

The wax can be left inside the heater after use and simply remelted for the next waxing session.

REX Black Diamond Hot Wax 480 g

REX Black Diamond Hot Wax is a high-performance hot wax designed for road, gravel and mountain bike drivetrains.

The 480 g pack contains REX base wax together with a separate Black Diamond additive block. The entire pack can be melted directly in the Wax Heater Professional.

Hot wax creates a dry wax layer on the chain that does not attract dirt in the same way as traditional oil-based lubricants. This also makes it easier to keep the drivetrain clean and simplifies subsequent chain maintenance.

Black Diamond Hot Wax is designed to form the foundation of the complete REX hot waxing system.

REX Transformer Block

Transformer Block makes the first hot waxing treatment of a new chain considerably easier.

Normally, the original factory grease on a new chain must be removed extremely thoroughly before hot waxing. Transformer Block provides an alternative approach.

Through oleogelation, it transforms the factory grease into a structure that is compatible with wax. The oil phase of the factory grease is bound into a more solid structure so that it no longer forms a barrier between the hot wax and the internal surfaces of the chain.

This allows a factory-new chain to be treated according to REX instructions without a separate traditional solvent degreasing process.

The 40 g Transformer Block pack contains four treatment blocks. One block is used for one new chain.

How to treat a new chain

1. Melt REX Black Diamond Hot Wax in the Wax Heater Professional.

2. Add the factory-new chain and one Transformer Block.

3. Activate the BOOST function.

4. The Wax Heater raises the temperature to 125 °C.

5. Once 125 °C has been reached and the heater gives the audible signals, move the chain thoroughly through the wax for at least 30 seconds.

6. Allow the wax to cool to 75 °C and move the chain occasionally during the process.

7. Lift the chain out of the wax and allow excess wax to drip back into the container.

8. Allow the chain to cool before installing it on the bike.

After the initial treatment, Transformer Block is not required for normal rewaxing.

Easy for every waxing session afterwards

Once the chain has been converted to hot wax, the same wax inside the Wax Heater can be reused.

The wax can simply be left to cool inside the heater and remelted for the next waxing session.

Wax Heater Professional is particularly practical for riders who rotate several waxed chains. The spacious container and included handling tools make waxing multiple chains straightforward without improvised setups.
