Why choose the Rex Wax Heater Professional?

A bicycle chain can be hot waxed using many different heaters, but most generic wax pots are not designed around the practical requirements of chain waxing.

The Rex Wax Heater Professional has enough capacity for a full 480 g pack of chain wax and several chains. The supplied waxing wires allow the chains to be placed inside the heater while the wax is melting.

Once the wax has fully melted, the chain can be moved through the wax by rotating the wire handle. This helps the molten wax reach the rollers, pins and internal surfaces of the chain.

After waxing, the chain is lifted directly onto the integrated hanging rack. Excess wax drips back into the pot, making the process cleaner and reducing unnecessary wax loss.

The system is particularly useful for riders who rotate several waxed chains. It is also suitable for cycling teams, clubs, professional mechanics and bicycle workshops.

BOOST mode and controlled waxing temperature

In its standard setting, the Rex Wax Heater Professional heats to 75 °C, which is the normal temperature used for chain waxing.

BOOST mode heats the unit rapidly to 125 °C. A full 480 g pack of Rex Black Diamond Hot Wax melts in approximately 30 minutes when BOOST mode is used.

Once the heater reaches 125 °C, it emits three audible signals and automatically begins cooling back down to the normal 75 °C waxing temperature.

This means the temperature does not need to be constantly adjusted by hand. The heater manages the fast melting phase and then automatically transitions to the correct waxing temperature.

Waxing a new chain with the Rex Transformer Block

A new bicycle chain is normally coated with factory grease, which must be removed thoroughly before traditional hot waxing.

The Rex Transformer Block offers an alternative method. When used according to Rex instructions, it allows a new factory-greased chain to be processed without a separate solvent cleaning procedure.

Add the following to the heater:

• Rex Black Diamond Hot Wax

• one Rex Transformer Block per new chain

• one new factory-greased bicycle chain

The Rex Wax Heater Professional is then started in BOOST mode. The high-temperature phase activates the Transformer Block process, after which the heater automatically cools to the normal 75 °C waxing temperature.

Always use BOOST mode when using the Rex Transformer Block.

Easy chain handling

The heater is supplied with two waxing wires and hanging handles.

The chain is threaded onto a wire and placed inside the wax pot so that it heats together with the wax. Once the wax has completely melted, the chain can be agitated by rotating the wire handle in both directions.

After waxing, the chain is lifted onto the hanging rack to cool. Excess wax drips directly back into the wax pot.

The hanging handles can also be connected using the supplied screw and used as chain link pliers for opening and closing a quick link.

The handle also includes a bottle opener.

Reuse the wax

The wax does not need to be removed after every waxing session.

After use, switch off the heater and allow the wax to cool inside the pot. The hardened wax can remain inside the unit and be melted again during the next waxing session.

When the wax eventually needs to be replaced, the fully cooled wax block can be removed as one piece using the method described in the manufacturer’s instructions.
