Finnish Rex Black Magik is one of those products that makes chain maintenance much easier and at the same time significantly more efficient. This is the liquid version of Rex Black Diamond hot wax. Not a lightweight copy, but the same wax mixture emulsified into micro droplets. The chain remains exactly the same low friction level, the same protection and the same extremely clean surface.

Black Magik was developed in collaboration with researchers at the University of Helsinki. The emulsion technology is truly exceptional. The water acts purely as a carrier. When it evaporates, the chain is left with a perfect Rex wax surface without any oil residue or dirt-collecting binders.

Experience in practice is that the chain initially stiffens like hot wax. During the first break-in, the excess wax is shed and the chain becomes flexible. It is left with a dense, hard-surfaced wax layer that lasts a long time and stays clean even on gravel and wet surfaces.

Black Magik does two things at once.
It is the perfect complement to Black Diamond hot wax.
It also functions as the chain's sole lubrication system without any compromises.

The cleanliness of the chains and the minimization of friction are immediately visible in the pedal feel. This is a product that many riders with a power meter have not yet tested and are positively surprised when they do their first ride.

Why does this work so well?
Rex's wax blend has been bench tested by Zero Friction Cycling to be the best hot wax in the world. Black Magik contains the exact same 11+1 wax block blend.

Suitable for year-round use
Off-road, gravel, road. Rain or shine. The wax doesn't absorb dirt, and it doesn't collect on the derailleur pulleys or sprockets.

How to use
Use on a clean chain. Move the chains to the far end of the cassette so that the chain is as crossed as much as possible and the rollers open and the wax gets in. Apply generously. Spin the chain for a moment and let dry overnight.
If using as a hot wax supplement. Wipe the chain with a cloth, apply Black Magik and let dry overnight. The chain can be hot waxed later without pre-cleaning, as long as the surface is wiped lightly before re-waxing.
