Rex Arctic is a wax-based chain oil specifically designed for winter conditions. It is based on the same wax-based structure as is known, but Arctic is modified to withstand cold air, moisture, snow and road salt. In winter, the chain's behavior changes because the viscosity increases and water tends to freeze on the surface. Arctic's composition is designed to make this as unnoticeable as possible. The oil remains flexible even in severe frosts and forms a waxy film that repels water and prevents corrosion.
Arctic utilizes Rex's N-Kinetic polymer technology. The polymers create a hydrophobic structure on the metal surfaces of the chain that prevents water or salt from adhering to the surface. This is crucial in winter driving, as moisture and salt accelerate chain wear more than any other phenomenon of the driving season. Arctic's oil does not stiffen in the cold, but retains its lubricating properties even when the temperature drops well below freezing. When driving feels mechanically light even in minus thirty weather, the viscosity is right.
Rex Arctic does not contain solvents or water. It provides full lubrication to the chain and leaves no residue on the surface that would become brittle in the cold. That's why a small and light bottle goes a long way. Every drop is a real lubricant and one bottle provides about thirty lubrications, with one drop applied per joint. This works especially well in winter, because the cold does not dilute the effect of the oil or thicken it into a heavy film.
Arctic shares the proven lubricity of Domestique and is part of a group of chain oils considered to be the longest-lasting on the market. In tests conducted in both Finland and Australia, Rex's wax-based structure produced low friction and very low wear. This is especially evident in winter, as cold air and salt normally increase mechanical resistance and shorten the life of chains. Arctic slows down wear and keeps the drivetrain functioning even in the most challenging weather conditions.
This oil is the foundation of winter maintenance. If you want a chain that runs quietly, stays soft in the cold, and lasts all winter without the hassle of maintenance, Arctic will do the job as well as a wax-based oil can.
