Hot waxing needs a scraper to remove the excess layer before brushing. Rex 6042 is a 3 mm acrylic scraper for that stage. It is a useful addition when you already have the iron and wax but lack a suitable scraper.

Scraping is one step in the finish. The base structure still needs clearing and the glide zones need brushing according to the chosen wax instructions. Removing the visible wax layer does not automatically complete the preparation.

Use it during hot waxing

1. Clean the glide zones and apply hot wax using the wax’s own method.
2. Follow that wax’s instructions for the right scraping stage.
3. Remove the excess with a clean, undamaged scraper edge and controlled pressure.
4. Clear the centre groove with a dedicated groove scraper.
5. Open the structure with an appropriate tool, such as a horsehair brush, and finish with nylon.

Scraper or brush?

The scraper takes off the excess surface layer. Horsehair works within the base structure, while nylon provides the finishing stage. These are separate jobs when your waxing method requires all of them.

If you only use sponge-applied liquid wax whose directions do not call for scraping, you do not need this tool for that routine.

Check the working edge

Inspect the edge before use. Excessive force or a damaged edge does not improve the result. The aim is to remove surplus wax, not reshape the ski base.
