A tubeless sealant has to solve two different problems at once. It needs to reach the puncture quickly and build a plug before the tyre loses too much pressure. It also needs to remain liquid for months instead of turning into a dry layer that demands constant maintenance.
SILCA Ultimate Tubeless Sealant 2.0 combines natural and synthetic latex with optimised carbon-fibre strands and advanced foaming agents. The foam carries the fibres through the tyre towards the leak. The fibres form a structure across the hole and the latex seals it.
In SILCA's testing the formula sealed punctures of 6 mm and remained effective down to -15 °C. Its stated working life inside the tyre is around six months.
A one-step formula
The previous SILCA Ultimate system used a separate Replenisher. The current 2.0 formula does not need it. Fill the tyre with this sealant, check the level at around six months and top up with the same Ultimate Sealant 2.0 when required.
Do not mix the new formula with the old SILCA Ultimate Sealant or its Replenisher. If the tyre contains the old product or another brand of sealant, clean the tyre before adding the new formula.
Injectable through the valve
The formula can be injected through a valve with a removable core. The separate SILCA Ultimate Sealant Injector keeps the process controlled and clean. The injector is sold separately. Because the sealant contains fibres, it is not suitable for injection through Reserve Fillmore valves.
500 ml or 1 litre?
500 ml suits setting up and maintaining one or two bikes at home.
1 litre makes sense for several bikes, high-volume mountain or gravel tyres and frequent workshop use.
Frequently asked questions
What size puncture can it seal?
SILCA states 6 mm in its test conditions. Real-world results depend on tyre construction, the shape of the hole and what caused the damage.
How often should it be topped up?
SILCA recommends checking and renewing the sealant at about six-month intervals. Top it up sooner if sealant has been lost while sealing a puncture.
Does it contain ammonia?
No. SILCA states that the formula is ammonia-free and safe for cotton tyre casings.
Can it be used with the old SILCA Replenisher?
No. The current formula works on its own and should not be mixed with the old sealant or Replenisher.
