Choose Gold Liquid as the final layer over a completed glide-wax preparation, especially in damp or wet snow. Rex highlights 0 to −7 °C in mixed and sub-zero snow conditions as its strongest area. Gold can also be used in other conditions; this is a focus range, not a strict limit.

When a topcoat makes sense

Gold suits racers who have already selected the wax for the day and want to add a final surface treatment. It can also go over training wax such as NF Sisu. If you are building your first waxing kit, start with a clean base, suitable glide wax and the tools to finish it properly.

This fluor-free product is a glide topcoat. It does not clean the base or replace the underlying wax chosen for the snow. NFX Extra Tuned is one race-wax option that can be finished with Gold.

Application: Gold goes on last

1. Complete the underlying glide-wax preparation, including its drying and brushing steps.
2. Apply any hand structure before Gold.
3. Spray Gold Liquid onto the glide zones.
4. Spread evenly with a fibre cloth and leave for five minutes.
5. Do not brush. The final layer is ready.

What else do you need?

Applying Gold itself only needs a fibre cloth. Do not iron, cork, merino-rotary finish or brush this final layer. Tools for the underlying preparation depend on the wax you choose. You do not need to buy a hand-structure tool for Gold; if you use one, use it before the topcoat.

The common mistake: brushing at the end

The usual liquid-glide-wax finish does not apply here. Leave Gold unbrushed. Hand structure also comes first because the tool's drive roller cannot grip the coated base properly.

If glide does not match the conditions, first check the underlying wax choice and the state of the base. Another layer of Gold should not be treated as a correction for unsuitable base waxing. Apply only to glide zones, keeping classic grip zones and skins clear.
