Clean a dirty grip insert before applying more skin conditioner. Skin Cleaner is made for the skin section of a classic ski. Choose it for the part that provides grip, while treating the tip and tail glide zones separately.

Rex specifies compatibility with all manufacturers’ skin skis. Use it with a clean fibre cloth. Cleaning and conditioning are two different jobs: this product removes dirt, while Skin Care treats the clean insert to help reduce dirt pickup and wetting.

A practical skin-care sequence

  1. Identify the skin section and keep its treatment separate from glide waxing.
  2. Wipe the skin with Skin Cleaner and a clean fibre cloth. Change to a clean part of the cloth as it picks up dirt.
  3. Let the cleaned area dry before the next treatment. Follow the container’s instructions for drying.
  4. Apply Skin Care to the clean insert according to its own directions, then let it dry before skiing.

What about the rest of the ski?

The glide zones at the tip and tail need their own cleaning and waxing routine. Use SISU Glide Cleaner there and keep a separate clean cloth for those areas. This avoids carrying glide wax onto the skin. The skin-cleaning step itself does not require an iron, scraper or nylon brush.

When cleaning does not solve the whole problem

Adding conditioner to a dirty insert leaves the cleaning job undone. If a clean skin still picks up moisture or ice, review its conditioning treatment as well. Persistent slipping or drag may also call for checking skin wear and whether the ski suits the skier. A cleaning liquid cannot restore worn fibres or change a ski’s stiffness.

The bottle contains 60 ml of cleaner. If you already have a suitable clean fibre cloth, no additional tool is needed for this step. Conditioner is a separate product.
