For coarse, icy or wet tracks, this three-liquid set lets you apply grip wax without heating klister or smoothing it with a cork. Liquid Base provides the binder. Choose Gold for coarse or glazed tracks, or Red for distinctly wet conditions. Gold and Red are alternatives for different snow; you do not need to use both in one preparation.
What is included, and which liquid to use

All three products are included. Gold and Red overlap in temperature, so consider whether the track's coarse surface or wetness is the main factor. Dry, fine snow below freezing may need the hard waxes in the Classic Grip Wax Set, even within Gold's temperature range. These liquids treat the kick zone of waxable classic skis, not skin inserts or glide zones.
Follow this order
- Remove unsuitable old grip wax with a scraper and wax remover. Wipe the measured kick zone clean and let it dry.
- Lightly roughen the zone, remove the dust and mask the edges if helpful.
- Shake Liquid Base. Apply one thin, even layer with the sponge.
- Allow at least 5 minutes for the binder to dry, and continue only once it has dried.
- Choose Gold or Red. For Gold, shake the bottle and sponge on one thin layer. For Red, prepare the bottle as directed and apply a thin, even layer.
- Let Gold dry for at least 5 minutes. Let Red dry according to its bottle instructions. Test the skis only once the top layer has dried.
The binder and top klister dry in separate stages. These liquid layers need no heating, corking or brushing. Base alone does not replace the klister chosen for the snow.
What you need separately
Wax remover, a cleaning cloth, a suitable scraper and a roughening tool are not included. This liquid-klister method requires no waxing iron, smoothing cork, glide brush or extra topcoat.
Slipping, icing or drag?
Slipping: check drying, the snow type and whether the kick zone contacts the snow. A thicker Base layer will not correct an unsuitable Gold/Red choice. If the ski needs a taller grip-wax layer, a tube klister allows more control over the build-up.
Icing: remove the ice and check for fine fresh snow or colder weather. Change to a wax that suits the snow; adding klister over a layer that is too soft can make sticking worse.
Drag: check the amount and the length of the kick zone. Remove excess or unsuitable wax before rebuilding. If the kick zone is not causing the drag, the glide zones need separate care: this set does not include glide waxing.
