The second generation of Rex Black Diamond chain oil takes advantage of the innovations that Rex developed for hot wax. The formula is even more waxy and contains the maximum amount of Rex Black Diamond Hot Wax base. The end result is an oil that applies exceptionally evenly to the chain and forms a waxy, wear-resistant surface without solvents or volatile components. The product is completely PFAS-free and does not contain water or cheap fillers.

Black Diamond is one of the most researched chain oils on the market. The friction level measured in the Wheel Energy Oy laboratory is among the lowest in the chain oil class, and in Zero Friction Cycling's long-term road and off-road tests, the oil broke wear resistance records. The results have elevated Black Diamond to the position that is modeled when looking for a chain oil that saves the chain, sprockets and, in practice, also power. When chain wear is reduced, costs decrease and the drivetrain becomes lighter and noticeably quieter.

The oil works in both dry and wet conditions. In the past, combining these two environments was a compromise, as low-friction oils suffered from weather resistance and weather-resistant oils collected dirt. Black Diamond's formulation solved this problem. The wax content and oil structure create a surface that stays on the chain, repels dirt and keeps friction low even when the weather changes or conditions become difficult. Due to the same property, this version is also used successfully in competitions, both off-road and on the road.

Since the oil does not contain solvents, every drop is a lubricant. The bottle size is small and intentionally compact, but in practice one bottle provides about thirty precise lubrications. One drop per joint is enough. The wax and oil structure remains in the chain and does not evaporate. This makes this oil particularly effective even on long rides when lubrication needs to be refreshed quickly without a major maintenance cycle.
